Inspired by the traditional Brazilian caipirinha, this reinterpretation celebrates the Canadian summer with fresh strawberries and iconic maple syrup. A delicious fusion of Brazil and Canada — in a single drink!

Ingredients:

  • 5 large, ripe strawberries
  • 1 lime (cut into 8 pieces)
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
  • 50 ml of white cachaça (available at LCBO stores)
  • Ice cubes or crushed ice to taste
  • A splash of still or sparkling water

Preparation:

In a glass, gently muddle 4 strawberries with the lime pieces (pulp side up), and add the maple syrup.
Add the cachaça and mix well.
Add the remaining strawberry in slices (without muddling) and fill the glass with plenty of ice (cubed or crushed).
If desired, add a bit of still or sparkling water and adjust the sweetness to your taste.
Garnish with a strawberry, mint leaf, or lime slice for an extra fresh touch.
